[Gulzar Ahmad]
He started approaching towards me. I was only at a distance of 6 ft and Iwas scared; Rodethe bike and returned. When I retreated 100m, thepython was still following me with the distance of 6ft. I got goose bumps.
I was appointed sub-engineer in the department of canals and my posting was in BanglaNeharQabool Shah inthe region of FazalkaFerozepur. One morning, mymate Muhammad Deenand I headed towards RajbahBaandiWalato check the tail on his bike. When we had covered at least5 miles, my mate’s cycle punctured and tail was only at a distance of 1 ½ mile. I told the mate that you fix it while I’ll go and check the tail. When I was at a distance of 100m fromthe tail I saw a big python with a pigeon in its mouth on the track of Rajbah. Ihad seen a pythonbefore and killed a few too. Therefore, without any hesitation I picked up 2 lumpsof clay and threw them towards the python. But instead of clearing my way he got up and spread his tongue and grew to a height of 1 ½ ft. I threw 8-10 lumps towards it but it avoided all of them.
He started approaching towards me. I was only at a distance of 6 ft and I was scared; Rode the bike and returned. When I retreated 100m, the python was still following me with the distance of 6ft. I got goose bumps. Similarly, my breathing became unbalanced and at that instant, nature helped me. I saw a mohgah of rajbah which was newly constructed and it was paved with solid bricks and pile of brick werelying nearby. I threw the cycle and climbed on the pile and stared to hit that python with them. By chance, one of the rocks hit its face and it climbed off the track and started running towards the fields. I threw three or more and it was killed instantly. Then, darkness came in front of my eyes. When I came to my senses after 5 minutes I was sitting on the pile of bricks and the python was lying dead at a distance of 8 ft. Soon my mate came and asked me if I am ok. He examined my body closely. I told him that Allah has saved my life.
I restedwhole next day and slept on the roof on a wooden bed. Amason RehmatDeen gave four people the duty that they must walk around the quarter all night with a burning lantern and if they see any snake then they should kill it. He warned everyone not to tell me about this. I stayed afraid the next day as well.
After 3 days a program was made to go to Fazalika. MasonRehmatDeen was with me but he was at leasteight feet behind me on his cycle. When we finished the ramp of bungalow and got on the track. Rehmat screamed, “Malik sahib please speed up the bicycle, the snake is following you.” I speeded up and when looked back after covering 100m,I saw that Rehmat was throwing lumps of clay at snake. I came back and we threw lumps at snake together. When he used to collect lumps,I used to throw lumps and similarly when Iused to search and grab lumps, Rehamt used to throw. At last we killed it. Then Rehmat dug a hole at least 4 feet deep and buried the python into it. Then we came back and postponed the trip
When we came back,RehmatDeen told me that earlier when you and your matehad killed the 1stpython, you did not bury it. That’s why I was scared that when his partner will come and look into the eyes ofhis dead partner, he will come to take the revenge after getting your fragrance from there. That’s why I had asked6 guards to stay alert day and night. The python used to come at night but could not reach you. At last i asked you go to Fazalika and thought snake will follow you and we will kill it. God helped us with that trick and we were able to kill the python. RehmatDeen said that these python are in pairs. After killing them, if you don’t bury them then nature has given them the gift that with the help of face in the eyes of dead partner and fragrance they are able to find the victim. Before burying, Rehmat measured it and it was 13ft and 2 inches. A normal human being would have losthis senses just by looking at it.
